Testing of heat pumps PN-EN 14511, 16147 COP, SCOP

We specialize in conducting certified tests of heat pumps that operate in various systems such as air/water, water/water, refrigerant/water and direct evaporation of refrigerant/water. Our tests are designed to establish energy and performance characteristics for different types of equipment:
  • Heat pumps with integral or separate condensers

Types of tests performed

We offer a variety of heat pump tests, providing a comprehensive assessment of their performance, safety and compliance with industry standards.

  1. Research is conducted to determine the energy characteristics of:

1.1 Research on electrically driven heat pumps for space heating according to PN-EN 14511 standard:

  • Heating / cooling capacity,
  • Electrical power input,
  • Coefficient of Performance (COP),
  • Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER).

1.2 Research on electrically driven ground/water source heat pumps for space heating according to PN-EN 15879-1 standard:

  • Heating / cooling capacity,
  • Electrical power input,
  • Coefficient of Performance (COP),
  • Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER).

1.3 Research on electrically driven heat pumps for domestic hot water preparation according to PN-EN 16147 standard:

  • Heating time,
  • Standby power consumption determination,
  • Useful energy determination,
  • Coefficient of Performance (COP),
  • Electrical energy consumption,
  • Determination of reference hot water temperature and maximum hot water volume,
  • Seasonal Coefficient of Performance for Domestic Hot Water (SCOPDHW),
  • Seasonal energy efficiency ratio for space heating (ηs).

A heat pump for domestic hot water preparation, as per PN-EN 16147 standard, is defined in PN-EN 14511-1 standard, connected to a hot water tank or with an integrated tank.

1.4 Research on electrically driven heat pumps for heating and cooling spaces under partial load conditions and calculation of seasonal performance according to PN-EN 14825 standard, Commission Regulation (EU) No 813/2013 of 2 August 2013, Commission Regulation (EU) No 811/2013 of 18 February 2013, and Directive 2009/125/EC:

  • Heating capacity under partial load conditions,
  • Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) determination,
  • Seasonal energy efficiency ratio for space heating (ηs),
  • Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) determination.
  1. Operational research on heat pumps according to PN-EN 14511-4 requirements:

    • Research on the application range specified by the manufacturer,
    • Research under closed heat transfer fluid flow conditions,
    • Research under total electrical power failure,
    • Defrosting system check,
    • Assessment of condensate discharge and enclosure sweating test.
  2. Tightness and durability testing of heat pump installations according to PN-EN 378-2, PN-EN 14276-1, PN-EN 14276-2 standards:

    • Testing for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
  3. Acoustic and noise tests:

    • Acoustic tests complement comprehensive tests of refrigeration equipment and heat pumps (including tests for obtaining the European quality mark KEYMARK).
    • Measurements include corrected sound pressure level characteristics A and determination of corrected A-weighted sound power level under specified measuring conditions defined in standards PN-EN 12102-1:2018-03, PN-EN 12102-2:2019-06, PN-EN ISO 3744:2011, and PN-EN ISO 3746:2011.
  4. Safety testing of electrical equipment for household and similar use – heat pumps, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers:

    • Tests ensure safe operation under controlled and abnormal conditions, including overload of compressor and fan motor circuits.
    • Mechanical strength, resistance to high temperatures, application of component parts, and correctness of grounding connections are evaluated.
    • Tests are conducted according to PN-EN 60335-2-40 standard.
  5. KEYMARK for heat pumps – HP KEYMARK:

    • The laboratory conducts necessary tests, verifications, and factory inspections for awarding and controlling products with the KEYMARK.
    • KEYMARK is a European certification mark confirming compliance with European standards, providing added value beyond CE marking by ensuring adherence to uniform European quality standards.
  6. Other tests:

    • The laboratory also performs unconventional tests, such as those in thermal-climatic chambers, or designs and executes new test setups tailored to specific research needs in consultation with clients.
